Week 2 focuses entirely on Linux, giving learners a strong foundation in the operating system that powers much of the cloud. Students work through Linux command line basics, file systems, permissions, users and groups, package management, services, log files, and the Bash shell.

Linux proficiency is critical for cloud professionals, especially in system admin, DevOps, and operations roles. Learning how to navigate, configure, and troubleshoot Linux environments prepares students to work confidently with real AWS EC2 instances later in the programme.

Learners complete a series of progressively challenging labs including Linux Command Line, Users and Groups, Managing Processes, File Permissions, Bash Shell Scripting, and an Advanced Bash Scripting Challenge Lab. Professional development topics such as “Customer Obsession” and “Professional Outlook” are also introduced.
